A struggle with mental illness can be a lonely one. Especially if you don't tell anyone you're suffering, so Marc Nieuwenhuys decided to talk about this journey.
In fact, he decided to do more than that. He decided to jump in a kayak and talk about it for 2,400km along the Murray River because apparently no one ever told him that talking about his depression, could actually help the entire situation.
I managed to catch up with him today at the boat ramp in Robinvale for a very candid and honest conversation about mental health, what helped him, how he sees his depression as a third person and then he starts asking me about my experience so it was like a therapy session on the banks of the Murray River in The Vale.
